Malawi

Malawi fits into Australia 65 times and has over 18 million people of whom 20% are evangelical Christians. The country is divided into four Regions and SOWERS is now working in all Regions. Chichewa and English are the main languages but most seminars are conducted in Chichewa. The work is led by a National Board and National Director.

Worker Profiles

GODFREY – Godfrey and Jynne live in Lilongwe with their three children. Godfrey works full time with SOWERS Malawi as the National Director. Godfrey has been trained to Level 5, the highest level in the SOWERS Program and is an ordained Baptist minister with a BTh degree. He moved to Lilongwe in 2003 to coordinate the work in the Central Region. He has trained many at Level 3 and 4 and they are now teaching seminars not only in the Central Region but also in other parts of Malawi.

MATEYO - Mateyo and Judith Iive with their four children in Mchinji in Central Malawi. Mateyo is a Baptist Pastor who was introduced to the SOWERS Program while at Theological Seminary. He was trained at Level 1 and 2 while there. Mateyo, a Level 5 Sower in training, coordinates the work in the Mchinji District training church teams and helping them to conduct open air meetings and follow-up the new Christians. He organises open air camps reaching more distant places in the District with the use of a sketchboard.

AMOS - Amos and Bertha live with their three young sons in Lilongwe. Amos is a Level 5 Sower and is working on a part time basis in the National Office in Lilongwe. He is a very gifted and capable young man and is doing a great job in coordinating the administration at the National Office.

PATRICK and OSWALD are coordinating the work near Lake Malawi and are Level 4 Sowers.
