Rodwell (SOWERS President) writes ...
Warm greetings to the SOWERS family.
Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened.
When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ (Mat 28:10-13).
The Move of the Gospel - As the women who witnessed the resurrection rushed to tell the glad tidings of the resurrection to the disciples, the guards also rushed to the elders to counter the Good News. The challenge is who runs faster! Our Lord is counting on us to run swiftly with the Good News of the Gospel and overtake the lost sinners.
The Measure of the Gospel - The elders “gave the soldiers a large sum of money”, to silence the Good News and negate the Gospel. The disciples, however, paid for the Good News of the resurrection with their lives!
Dear SOWERS family, thank you for all you are doing. As 2024 gets underway, can we increase our urgency and support through our prayers, purses, and presence so we can overtake the lost with the Good News of Jesus.

- For tangible blessings and benefits of the visits of Godfrey and Emmanuel to the countries they are supervising.
- For Selwyn`s recent trip to Tasmania where he caught up with relations and was able to update a church and other supporters on what Sowers are doing.
Pray:
- For health, strength, motivation and enthusiasm for Selwyn as he leads the work in 2024.
- For God’s provision for projects that are still pending.
- For an awareness of the great privilege and responsibility the Board has as it seeks to support the work and the workers on the mission fields.
- For continuing health, provision and protection for all Sowers and their families.
Central African Republic
Praise:
- For His protection throughout 2023. Let us praise God according to Ps 145:1-5.
- For official recognition of SOWERS in CAR and that the SOWERS office has a letter of confirmation.
Pray:
- For guidance for the National Board of CAR to realise its dreams to advance God’s Kingdom.
- For a favourable response to introduce the SOWERS Program from the churches of Bangui and surrounding provinces by the end of the 1st quarter.
- For the protection of members of the National Committee and Regional Advisors.
- That God will grant peace to our dear country.
DR Congo
Praise
- For His protection over members of our Sowers families.
- That the mission of SOWERS International has been well established in the province of Ituri in the north-east.
Pray:
- For the speedy recovery of the Regional Advisor who suffered an accident during his mission in Ituri.
- For fruitful outcomes as a result of the General Assembly of the Sowers of Lubumbashi held in February.
- For at Level 1 & 2 training in Kolwezi in March.
- That the new partnership with a Christian community interested in the SOWERS Programme (45th CEP) will be fruitful. The training begins in April.
Ghana
Praise:
- For the good health of the staff and their families.
- For the new converts saved during open-air meetings.
Pray:
- For lasting fruit to come from the Level 2 Seminar held at Resurrection Methodist and the Level 1 Seminar held at the Berekum Presbyterian District in February.
- For the success of the Level 2 Seminar in Berekum District to be held from 21 to 24 March.
- For a successful introduction to the SOWERS Programme at the Evangelism Meeting in April in Sunyani.
- That the ministry activities of trained Sowers will increase and bear fruit this year.
India
Praise
- For keeping all Sowers and their families safe and sound during the on-going violence in Manipur.
- For the opportunities, with the help of well-wishers, to distribute relief materials for winter to the different relief camps which have been opened.
Pray:
- For Christians and churches suffering much persecution.
- That peace and normality will return to Manipur to bring an end to the violence that is still occurring.
- That open-air evangelism in India will be able to resume.
Kenya
Praise:
- For the successful L3 Seminar.
- For His protection and provision.
- For the souls saved at open-air meetings.
Pray:
- For upcoming seminars for Levels 1 and 2 Sowers.
- For souls to be saved during open-air meetings.
- For effective follow-up and discipleship by Sowers teams.
- For the activation of Church teams and senior Sowers.
- For God’s protection and His provision for ministry needs.
Malawi
Praise:
- For the safety of Senior Sowers and their families.
- For souls saved in all regions of Malawi during open-air meetings conducted by Sowers teams.
- For a church planted recently in the Central Region.
- For four men being successfully trained at Level 4 in the Central Region.
- For the senior Sowers regional meeting in Southern Malawi where Sowers men and women were encouraged.
Pray:
- For the safety of Senior Sowers and their families.
- For Pastor A J, his family, SOWERS teams, senior SOWERS men and women and the churches in Machinga facing persecution from adherents of another religious group.
- For rain. The entire region of Southern Africa is experiencing dry spells. When dry spells result in droughts and hunger, Sowers and the operation of the SOWERS programmes in the region are adversely affected.
- For planned activities for the coming quarter in Malawi. These include open-air meetings and seminars.
Mozambique
Praise:
- For the protection of the families of Sower’s.
- For the election of a new National Council.
- For Level 1, 2 and 3 seminars held over the last 3 months.
- For open-air meetings that were held in several places.
- For meetings that have been held to demonstrate the SOWERS Programme.
Pray:
- For health and protection of all Sowers families.
- For the members elected to the new National Council.
- For Seminars and open air meetings planned.
- That the National Director’s visits, which have been hindered in some Provinces, will return to normal.
- That visits to new converts and churches are normalised.
- For fruitful and productive meetings of the National Council and Provincial Committees.
- For supplies of SOWERS manuals, and literature.
- That the SOWERS ministry progresses in Tete, Nampula, Zambezia and Niassa.
- For the Lord’s sufficiency for all ministry needs.
Nepal
Praise
- For He is gracious and faithful always.
Pray:
- That churches may be open to evangelism training.
- That all Sowers will be ready to go out to sow God’s Word whenever opportunities arise.
New Zealand
Praise:
- For the dedicated and committed staff who keep the ministry advancing.
- For the reports telling of new life, reconciliation and freedom from addiction, guilt and shame.
- For being able to meet our quarterly financial commitments.
- For Bryan and Isabel’s many faithful years of service.
Pray:
- For Carol and Judy whose work behind the scenes keeps the ministry moving.
- For wisdom for David and Murray as they guide, encourage and empower.
- For Bryan & Isabel as they adjust to life beyond SOWERS.

- For prayer partners in the Eastern Province.
- For the successful L2 seminar and the new church planted at Nyafibobo, Lufwanyama in the Copperbelt.
- For good District and Provincial meetings in Luapula South.
Pray:
- For the fulfilment of planned Level 1 & 2 seminars and meetings during the first quarter in Luapula South.
- For God’s guidance and protection as the SOWERS Ministry is introduced in various churches in the Copperbelt and the fulfilment of planned Level 1, 2, 3 & 4 seminars.
- For the successful fulfilment of planned open-air meetings in Eastern Province and that the target of drawing more than 50 people to each meeting will be achieved.
- That the few trainers available in Eastern Province will be committed to the work in order to train more Sowers at Levels 3 & 4.
- That ministry on the Island and the Mainland will be accomplished successfully in Luapula North.
- For peace and healing from cholera in Zambia and success for the planned Level 2 Seminars in Muchinga .
- That the planned Level 1 & 2 Seminars in Northern Province will be conducted sucessfully.
- For safe travel to Nseluka Zone in Northern Province and for successful completion of the orientation visits.
Zimbabwe

- For SOWERS promotion in Manicaland Province.
- For the commitment of SOWERS Provincial Committees.
Pray:
- For good outcomes to follow the Level 2 Seminars recently conducted in Manicaland Province and Harare Province.
- For the success of a Level 1 Seminar to be conducted in Matebeleland South, Beit Bridge.
- For a level 3 Seminar to be conducted in Harare Province on 14-15/03/24 and a Level 2 Seminar to be conducted in Masvingo Province on 29/03/24.
