Want a quick overview of all 6 Levels?

The first three Levels are mostly classroom-based courses, with hands-on ministry training as part of the program. But they take only a few days each to complete.

From this point on, the remaining Levels are more like internships. Students are out in the ministry field gaining experience and learning new things under supervision. They are now planting churches, building ministries, and exercising godly spiritual authority to win people for Christ.

The goal of Level 4 is to train ministers to teach the Level 2 course, which is probably the Level most at the heart of SOWERS open air evangelism methodology since it’s the one that equips new open air ministry leaders. The people teaching the Level 2 course have to be strong in the Lord.

The jump from Level 3 to Level 4 is a big one – the commitment level increases.

[The Program] has also helped me to teach at Bible School and has also helped my house to be in prayers every day. It has also helped me on how to prepare the Bible Teachings.                                                -Reuben K, Zambia

Building Their Ministry

A Level 4 graduate will need support because they are now devoting the majority of their time to spreading the gospel in their nation. Ideally, they are supported through their own local church. Sometimes though, if their church can’t afford it, they get support from the SOWERS ministry funds.

And though the goal of Level 4 is to learn to teach Level 2, they will also start observing some Level 3 courses, since the next step is to teach those as well.

The idea of mentoring while being mentored is in full effect by this point. When a Level 4 trainee is teaching a Level 2 class, they are being observed by a Level 6.

Level 4 Fast Facts

Who attends:

A Level 3 graduate who has since taught at least five Level 1 seminars. They must also demonstrate a high level of commitment and be using their Level 3 training effectively. We should see them developing their own teams of Sowers in local churches, guiding the people they’ve trained in Level 1, and working with local Level 2 Sowers.

Who teaches:

Again, this is more like an internship, so there isn’t necessarily one “teacher” the whole time. At times, a Level 4 or Level 5 person might conduct portions of the ministry training. But ultimately, a Level 6 minister certifies the graduate.

How long it takes:

Level 4 can take several months to meet all seven benchmarks.

What they learn:

Students are given three manuals – again translated into the local languages – that explore how to teach, promote, and organize Level 2 seminars. Here are the seven benchmarks to reach Level 4:

  1. They must be conducting more Level 1 seminars, and teach at least four Level 2 courses under supervision.
  2. They must continue to lead open air meetings, and have a growing ministry that encourages their students to do the same.
  3. Expand their influence, and teach Level 1 courses to other churches in the area.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in teaching Level 2
  5. Arrange and manage the logistics of setting up a Level 2 seminar.
  6. Show that they have opportunity for growth – places in their region, denomination, Bible schools, or other places they will be able to lead more ministry trainings.
  7. Receive the blessing and commendation of their church to become a Level 4 Sower.

To receive the official Level 4 certificate, a Level 6 Sower will watch them teach a Level 2 seminar. If the Level 6 Sower sees some areas of their instruction that still need growth, the Level 4 will have to teach a couple more before getting certified.

But once certified, the Level 4 can now lead open air evangelism teams and teach both the Level 1 and Level 2 courses. They can establish their own ministry training programs in their area, and begin learning how to teach the Level 3 course.

Level 4 Testimonies

Zambia – Building up the Body of Christ

I did SOWERS Level 1 at a Bible school and was trained at Level 4 in 2014. The SOWERS Program has helped me in many ways. The first one is that it has helped me to know how I can talk to someone on how to receive Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. The Program has also has helped me to have that desire of speaking the Gospel any time. It has also helped me to teach at Bible School and has also helped my house to be in prayers every day. It has also helped me on how to prepare the Bible Teachings.

From what I have learnt in SOWERS, many people have been encouraged to stand in prayer, to make follow up programmes and preach in the open air. They are also involved in prayers to pray for their sons in Christ. They have also been encouraged to read the Bible.

Uganda – Strategic Influence

The Level 4 training has created a great impact in my ministry. There has been an improvement in my sermons. When I am preaching at church I apply SOWERS techniques, and am able to present very touching messages.

I have so far organised several teams to form prayer cells and evangelism centres. Now as a Level 4 Sower whenever there is need for strategic planning for Sowers activities, I usually have an input.

How does SOWERS work? What do we do?

Our central strategy uses a 6-Level Evangelism Training program that engages brand new believers as well as established leaders who want to grow their impact for God’s kingdom. The goal is to continually raise up new evangelists and missionaries to reach thousands of people in developing nations, where open air evangelism has proven to be highly effective.
